Dodeca Capital was born out a realization that capital project development was beyond the means of most small- to medium-sized companies. The types of project financing available to these companies either prevented great projects from being started or required that the founders give up control of the projects they worked so hard to put together.

Either companies struggled to secure the large down payments needed to secure debt financing or they gave up controlling equity in their companies by turning to outside investors. Like many others, we looked at a range of finance solutions to obtain project financing for renewable energy projects. We had put together quality projects built on proven technology that had a strong customer base. But bank financing required millions of dollars as a down payment. This was not a possibility for us. Equity investors were willing to provide financing…but we would need to give up between 50% to 70% of our company. Not a very appealing prospect after we had done all the work of putting together a quality project.

We were looking for an option that offered project developers long term control of their own destiny. Through our efforts we learned a lot about project financing and created relationships that led to access to the top lending institutions.

We found that the best options were available through unique programs that offered debt financing based on the strength of off-take agreements and customer relationships in solid business sectors.

The other frustrating part of obtaining project finance was the lack of transparency and the high cost of getting help…as well as having to commit to an exclusive relationship with a single firm.

We found capital consulting firms were willing to help us find financing…for a large fee but no guarantee of success. Dodeca Capital was founded to change the way that good project get financing.
